Not so nice, but the same ships crew that appeared on the reverse of the 5 dollar FRN up there also shows up on this front of this dollar. Looks like they are begging the Captain to order the cook not to serve fish again tonight. They look ill from food poisoning. Who are these guys? Anyone know? One Dollar United States Note

Quote: barryg - Worthy of mention is the 1918 $100 with the Burke/Glass sig combo, which is a really scarce note, like most with the Glass signature. Thanks, I did not know that! I'll have to do some research to find out how that affects the value, but it certainly makes me feel a bit better for "overpaying" for the note at an auction due to a slight bidding war at the end.

TheNickelGuy to answer who those guys are: it is Charles Schussele's painting of Columbus Discovery of Land. Or possibly in your interpretation we could call it: Sick of Fish

Thanks for sharing pics everyone. My collection doesn't include any large size notes yet.
Love reading the back of the 1917 $1 - counterfeiting "is punishable by $5,000 fine, or 15 years imprisonment at Hard Labor or both." The fact that they felt it necessary to print that on the actual note is interesting!

Here is the series 1907 older brother of the series 1922 $10 CG I showed a few days ago. This design is notable in being the first note, along with the 1906 $20, to show the modern center portrait design that all denominations of US currency eventually adopted - and that lasted for some 90 years!

Quote: Super notes, especially those Red Seal FRNs! Thanks, I'm thrilled somebody appreciates them. I purposely posted the red seals instead of the blue seal versions I own because they are much rarer.
