That's what originality looks like. Go for it!

If it is authenticated by ANACS then you know its legitimate and not a cast Chinese copy. If the price is right go for it. I agree with typecoin it looks like an original circulated specimen.

I found it listed and I would make a substantially lower offer. There's not a lot of eye appeal here, but it is one of the few slabbed Trade dollar type coins that isn't cleaned or with details. It is not my cup of tea. I would save another hundred bucks or so and go for a better grade but if you like it, then that's your choice. I would regret it later buying a lower grade like that to fill a hole in my type set.

the coin is slabbed VF20. I would offer $125-$150 range. But it's your call.

Trades are tricky. ANACS is safe for authenticity, but VF-20 loses so much of the details of the design that I'd advise waiting for a better example.

For the money, its a budget piece, probably the only "_real" one I'll ever be able to obtain...

I think for VF20 it is certainly condition acceptable and if this is the coin that fits your budget, go for it! You might not find another slabbed example without a DETAILS designation within your price range for some time.

ANACS is legit, I'd trust their opinion. For an inexpensive type coin, that's an acceptable example.

Perhaps it's the lighting, but the obverse does not seem evenly toned and the reverse seems to have some unnatural looking dark splotches around the perimeter. Also, grade looks closer to F-15. This coin does not impress me to be honest.

Since it's stabbed, I wouldn't worry too much about authenticity. Does the seller offer returns? If they do, I would buy it cheap and try to flip it. Problem free Trade dollars are always in demand because there aren't many of them. If it turns out to be a fake in a fake slab, then return it.

I looked the coin up the seller does not offer returns. He has a photo of another coin in a basement slab that also has poor pictures. My ebay rule is that I do not buy from sellers that do not offer returns, but I do break the rule sometimes. The seller does have 100% feedback and coins do not seem to be his typical items for sale. You are gambling a little if you do purchase the coin. You should be able to get the coin with a best offer in the $110 to $115 range. The coin looks original and appears to be graded correctly. If the holder has been tampered with and the seller will not give a refund, you will be able to file a claim and get your money back. If I did not have the money for a better grade, I would gamble and buy the coin. When I have seen counterfeit coins in slabs on ebay, they typically have out of focus pictures and seller does not offer returns. One other thing of concern is the sticker covering the barcode as the barcode will give information about the coin.

Since the pictures are bad, my only holdup would be the blue ANACS slab. This was the period when many felt ANACS lost their way and compromised their grading standards.

Someone else did, probably because of this post! I rather hold out and get a nicer example. Thanks for your thoughts everyone.
