Here is one of my better Winged Liberty Head Dimes. I feel that it is very close to a MS65-FB designation. Should this be "slabbed"?

Personally I place all my nicer coins in my own slabs for displaying but never send them out to be third party graded. Just a preference though.

It sure looks like a FB coin to me and an MS-65 or 66 grade seems appropriate. The value however doesn't take a big jump unless it makes MS-67FB, where the PCGS price guide shows it as a $340 coin. If it makes that grade, it would be well worth the grading fee IMO.

I can't tell from the pics if it makes fb or not. I agree with amac44 with using ngc (or anacs) unless in hand the coin is a no question fb.

Those look like full bands to me. However, unless a substantial amount of someones can tell you they think it'll grade at 67 or above, I would keep it at home, slab it yourself, and save the time and money.

Nice Merc.

that's a 64 FB - the ding on the feces drops it down from a 65 for PCGS.

Anybody notice the wear on letters in STATES? Can this coin really be given GEM status? It's a shame with the full bands and all...

Thank you all for the extra set(s) of eyes. There are a few nicks on the fasces, although the weakness in "States" is due to poor strike, it's a low spot and original luster is still present, IMO.I think asciibaron and atlas health are right, MS64FB at best. and I can assure Prethen that there has never been any feces on this coin

I agree that the facial marks would keep it from 67, but I have seen much worse facial and field nicks on 65s. Would think there is a chance for a 66, The bands do look full, but need in hand to tell for sure as PCGS is sticky. No 95% for them for FSB. I really like the fields on this one! Nice coin! I would only TPG it if you are sure of the FSB and wanted to sell it soon.

Rather early in the morning, kept clicking on the photo to enlarge it until the caffeine kicked in and I noticed it didn't have the red dashes around it :)
