So what would you say the grade is? And it has a solid edge if it was 40% wouldn't I see different colors?

For the 40% Kennedy halves, I believe the edges were silver with no other color. Should be the same for Ike's.

The coin does have a few hits all around. I'd give it a high AU/Low MS.

My guesstimation would be MS63/maybe 64. There are some pretty nasty dings on the jaw and neck area.

I'm in the MS63 club. Maybe MS64 on the reverse where it only took one rim hit from another coin on the bell, but the obverse gets the grade since it has a couple hits. Still, I'm sure it looks better actual size.

Lots of hits...I'm at MS62 Tops.

Matt2727 is correct. On Ikes the Copper/Nickel Clad show 2 colors on the edge. 40%ers show only silver on the edges.

Yap.. 40% Ikes' rims are all silver color.

As for the grade, lots of hits, especially the obv. Agree on MS62 tops. Still a very nice silver Ike

I'm at borderline MS-62/63, and if pressed I'd probably go with the former. Nevertheless, it's silver so you can't beat that!

You all must be blind, bless your hearts.

Just kidding around.

The core is only 20.9% silver and there is enough copper to make it different (more grey than silver) than the 80% silver cladding. It is usually there if you look really close and I can see in in the photo posted above. However, keep in mind when the planchets are punched, bleeding can make them look like two or even one layer rather than three, hence the confusion of what one should normally see.

Point is, you may see it, you may not.

The Dansco hides the edges completely and the PCGS slabs obscure them enough to where I am not really going to worry about them.
