That's a tough one bro. With those pictures it definitely looks like and AU coin. With very attractive toning I should add. I would go for it as long as the seller has a return policy without a restocking fee.

AU58. Seems like there's luster under the toning so it could possibly go MS

If genuine, this one will end up in an MS holder. My guess would be MS-61 or 62.

I agree with the previous post. I can't see any signs of wear on the obvious spots. MS 61 is my guess.

Looks to be genuine, its hard to tell if it is a high au/low ms piece. Better pics would help. The toning looks natural (you always have to worry PCGS/NGC if it gets graded could suspect AT). It looks good to my eye though.

I'd rather have that in my type set than my current one. Very nice, but I won't venture a grade. It looks genuine to me as well.

Possibly 62 to 63 ..... all depends on what it looks like in-hand.
It sure needs to be in a safe flip instead of being between two fingers! Yikes!

Sorry but I'm questioning whether this Trade dollar is authentic. Check out the numerals 900 on the reverse and compare to other TPG graded coins from the same year and mint. They look off on this coin.

When I get this in hand I will post close up pictures. Does anyone else share the same opinion as chester? In my books it is AU so it didn't seem like a steal per say. I like the color though It looks genuine to me because it has a Type 1 Obverse with a Type 1 Reverse which all 1874 Trade dollars exhibit. The Type 2 obverse would have ribbons perpendicular to the floor and reverses with feathers touching the arrow shafts and round berries rather than elongated. Any information/corrections appreciated though

Here's a PCGS photo for comparison.

The coin looks genuine. Send it in for grading if you have any doubts.

The zeros in the "420 grains 900" look totally different between the Steelers pics and IndianGold's PCGS photo.

I sort of see that, but I'll still go AU-58.

I've spent some time researching. I can't seem to find any fake Trade dollars with similar zeros to the coin in the original post. I've sent pictures to other collectors and not one has questioned authenticity. I am concerned because if this is a fake, it is extremely well done, probably the finest out there.
