Thoughts on grade and problems? Thanks! I'm not a grader. But my first thoughts after seeing the coin are: Detailed, Recolored. Some folks would say, toning. I'm thinking tampered with in some way. JMHO BTW: I hate going first!!

Was wondering about the week right arrow shaft and lack of details on some of the leaves. Is that mark on the 4 or the case?

Quote: Is that mark on the 4 or the case? I was thinking the same thing. Is this coin slabbed? It's hard for me to tell. They are good pictures though. Although, they do look like slab scratches. The line across the bottom of GOD and the bottom of the E in WE.

Looks blue inked and toasted, really don't like that "toning" at all! Ugh! Wonder if it happened after slabbing?

The combination of the toning (looks natural and similar to how bronze IHC's tone) and the above-average strike (with dies that were not clashed or otherwise badly failing) is very attractive and scarcer than the usually seen weakly-struck examples with numerous cracks, chips, Cuds, and other defects. A lone die crack on the reverse through the bottoms of "ATE" is the only indication that the dies were not fresh, but this is definitely an early strike. I am on the fence between BN / RB but not on the fence about eye appeal, toning, or lack of wear; my grade MS 64 RB. This is a keeper.

Quote: RB. Wondering how toning can be considered a condition? Either a copper coin is considered by a legitimate Grading service as RED, RED-BROWN, or BROWN!

This was graded MS64BN by PCGS. It was offered for $160 and someone bought it while I was thinking of buying it.
