Hello members, Soon after joining CCF, I realized that I needed to start 7070 album. I had couple thousands of US types coins in 2x2s, but most were what I liked the best. Franklins, Walking liberties, Morgans, Peace, ASE, & other silver bullion coins. Perhaps I had about 15% in coppers, nickels, quarters, & older type coins. I purchased the album and started filling in holes with what I have on hand. I know some of the coins are cleaned and have issues, but I chose the ones that might look the best at this stage. I also quickly realized that there will be life-long upgrades to follow  Recently, I have purchased few raw coins. (filled in 7070) 1936 Texas Commemorative Half (Liked it so much, I got another one in old rattler MS65) 1958 Seated half dollar1853 3-cent silver 1807 Half CentWaiting to receive... 1936 Capped Bust Half 1853 Seated Liberty Half with "Arrows & Rays" 1877-S Seated Liberty Half I am posting this thread to share my 7070 progress, and more importantly, hear any comments & recommendations, both good or bad, about the coins and progress. Also, if any member have upgraded and wants to sell coins that I need, please send me a PM. I'm looking for problem-free (or market acceptable) coins that's not terribly expensive. And couple more things..... First, I want to acknowledge the member FroDaddy for posting 7070 Album Spreadsheet. I made my own spreadsheet, then I found FroDaddy version. Much better spreadsheet! An excellent work in progress.
Although it's fun to fill in the holes fast, with the intention of upgrading later, it is almost always wiser to wait for coins you won't need to upgrade.
Those lessor grade and problem coins are sold, almost exclusively, to folks collecting as you are doing now. But that is a relatively small number of collectors.
I would also recommend keeping your encapsulated coins in their slab, taking pictures of them and printing on gloss paper. Put the cut photos front to back in your 7070 to represent them.

I probably have a few hole fillers, but don't think mine are worthy of being put next to yours! A lot of nice coins, but do agree w/ Moxking, go big or stay at home with lower grades. That's what I had to do, keep it lower grade just to afford filling some higher $ holes.

Your set has some nice coins, also has a number of hole fillers. The recommendation that I would make is to slow down as completing the set is not a race. Do not purchase hole fillers as you will most likely replace the coins in the future. Try to buy coins that someone else would want to purchase. Set a minimum grade and only buy what you really like.

Cracking out coins is personal preference, I do to some that isn't really high grades. I would crack out a high end AU or an low end MS, but save your labels and kept in a label page at the back end. Another idea is to have a second 7070 album, as you upgrade move the one that you upgraded to the second album.
Will a gold page be next in order? Nice progress BTW!

I would leave the Pilgrim in it's slab, and maybe grab a nice raw BTW for that hole. BTW's are cheap in high grades, and would look good in your awesome 7070.

Great looking 7070. They are so much fun to put together and you are well on your way. I do not crack my certified coins out for the more expensive examples. I insert a piece of paper describing what I have and I am happy with this plus I am protecting my "investment".

KenKat, I must have looked at your 7070 album photos dozens of times. You have a wonderful set!
moxking, thank you for the advice. Most lower ends coins, especially early coppers, are from my collection from last 25 years, collecting on and off. Definitely hole fillers. I plan to purchase higher grade, problem-free coins. Let me think about cracking open the Pilgram. It is indeed very nice as is...
