So it's 3am, and what else is there to do then look at the photos of some of my recent acquisitions.

First one I look at is my Pan-Pacific, and I noticed something funky at the mint mark. So I jump over to CoinFacts, and see that there are 2 RPM varieties. Out comes the actual coin and the loupe/lupe (what's the correct way to spell that, anyway?), and then over to the camera to re-shoot a closeup of the MM.

Yup, looks like I unknowingly cherrypicked the FS-501 RPM!

My coin's MM (full images are here http://goccf.com/t/296768)

Yep, it's after 3 AM here and I think you've presented a convincing case.

Be wary, however, having passed the Witching Hour, we are soon approaching the Devil's Hour and after that come the early birds.

It shows the same die polishing marks too which would ease your mind on whether they were scratches on the coin or not. Nice coin. Would like to own one of those commemoratives someday

How about that.

I'm not aware of a market premium for such an example ... although the numismatic pursuit of knowledge is plenty of reason for personal motivation.

It seems that both the FS-501 and FS-502 RPM does not have a premium from what I can tell from the researching I've been doing. But it is still neat.
