I have a tetradrachm from kamarima Sicily 425bc-405bc and was curious If you could possibly identify this piece and possibly in the market for this item.. it's a depiction of Alexander the great with Hercules lion headdress on front and back is Athena in chariot race while nike is hanging wreath of victory over head and ionic column at bottom.. it weighs between 16 and 17 grams.. I've superimposed the images to check for different style.. nothing.. I've checked for sandwich looking anomalies..nothing..checked for file marks..nothing.. checked for air bubbles..nothing.. and checked for crystallization.. it's present indeed..

to the community I've managed to find a few examples of this type, but none seem to match your coin. The lettering in the legend seems to be too large and spaced too far apart. The beard of Zeus is usually more close together, on your coin it is lose. The surface and patina appear to be old though. I don't believe this however is original to the time period. I believe this is a 15th-16th cemtury reproduction. Lets see what the others have to say about it.

I have never seen one that style before, looking at the Wildwinds page for Kamarina they have a few similar coins but they look kind of busier... none have the same mark in Exergue on the reverse and the portraits are different too either clean shaven or with different style of beard and writing.
I wish you luck...

@david82, first welcome to CCF. Second, can you please take and post a couple pics showing an edge view of this piece? I ask not so much to look for a parting seam as this piece seems to be struck, but because it looks to me like the flan is severely slanted, with a thin part at 12 o'clock and a thicker part at 6 o'clock. I think that this would be quite unusual in a real coin. Also, there seems to be matching areas of delamination at 12 o'clock on both the obv and rev. Do these line up with each other?

If I could email one of you good gentlemen the pictures it might be easier.. there filed under png and won't upload.. but both are in westermark and Jenkins one is 143.5.. I've superimposed the images to. And it all appears to line up perfectly..ive magnified the edges for file marks.. the top I was told by anac rep it was a flan defect.. it weighs 17 grams and I believe it silver.. obviously have not been cut to know for sure.. and if it is a 16 15 th century is it not worth anything? And thank you all for the help..

Looks like you were able to do more research on this coin than we have. However I'm still not convinced that its genuine. Compared to the last image you posted the original coin has an irregular shaped flan and edges. The edge on your coin is smooth and rounded over.
