What do you grade this coin?

Do you think the scratch or scar on the queens neck hurts its value and only makes it worth the bullion value?

Or does its scarcity of only 2500 mintage over shadow this defect?

The scratch would knock it down 2 grades. Since it is at least an XF, that may be the value in F, which trends still lists as $1400.

Grade it as if there was no damage.
Take perhaps 60% or more off the value for grade.
Unfortunately, the gouge in the neck amounts to grievous bodily harm

"AU58 details" is at least the best approach in which to grade it.

How much it should be devalued is a personally subjective thing, in the mind of a prospective buyer.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The question for all of us to answer is:
'How much would you devalue it?'
60% is my opinion only - what is the opinion of each of us?

The bidding starts at $1,500.00 to high I believe. If you have to factor the commission and shipping on top of this price.

Nice coin, but it will be hard to get a good price with the wear and the scratch. Its rarity alone will sell it, but for how much? $1500 is way too high a start price to get a bidding war going.

To someone who holds a grudge against queen Vic... like a REAL grudge, this could be worth a pretty penny :P
