I love working on my coins but family distractions in my house aggravates the heck out of me . Like I'll start Acetoneing some coins and the wife will call me to do something she needs done right away . Or my granddaughter will bother me to turn on her Nintendo Wii Player, or she's hungry, etc . And if that's not enough ,my Daughter interrupts my work saying she needs things fixed in her bedroom .
How in the heck am I supposed to work on my collection ?
Does anybody else have these problems ?

Things caused by family members:

When I have some coins in ziploc bags queued to be put into 2x2's, sometimes my 90 year old grandpa would pick them up, look at them (he is still able to recognize coins that circulated when he was young), then toss them back from maybe a foot high . They fell on other coins .

Fortunately all those coins are now in 2x2's, kept away in safety

Things caused by self:

Sometimes I wrote wrong info on my 2x2 and had to put the coin in a new 2x2.
Sometimes when I hold coins at the rim using my thumb and index finger, the coin would fall when I begin to move my hand (about to put the coin down). I wonder what's wrong with my 18 year old fingers

Things caused by no one (nature):

Just after getting an acetone dip, the remaining acetone would evaporate and cool the coin down to the point that it condenses water vapor from the hot and humid tropical air . To prevent this I put the coin in between cotton pads and hold the cotton pads on my hand to keep it as warm as possible.

I home school my 6 year old grandson which takes anywhere between 4 & 6 hours per day. When we are done with his school work I make sure he has a snack, the right cartoons are on (very important!) and anything else he may need to keep him occupied for the next few hours. However it never fails, as soon as I have my computer and microscope set up, coins out, acetone at the ready, and I sit down, I hear "Papa, I already seen this cartoon" or the infamous " I'm hungry" or "I have to go potty" but the best one is "what are you doing" . It becomes very aggravating as I forget where I was with what I was doing and usually end up waiting for my daughter to get off work and pick him up.
Yes it's very annoying! But I wouldn't want it any other way! The time I have with my grandson is precious and will not last for ever.

No one else has these problems, you're obviously a bad parent.

Seriously, it's going to be this way until they're out of the house. Nothing you can do about it, except organize your coin tasks for future completion and ensure that things are in 'penny packets' to allow for short completion times, just a few coins at a time.

When they're older, you'll get more time, and hopefully some interest in assisting you or in their own collection. If so, make sure you have some stuff you can give them and get them going.

Whatever you do, don't get brassed off at them now, they'll remember that forever. Just grin and bear it.

Who do I talk to about getting a "LIKE" button installed on this forum? Would it be the web developer for this forum?

The reason I'm asking: I like your post. It's much easier to click a button once then write all this! Thanks.

Thank you for the kind words, but it was decided at the very inception of the Community that features which could devolve into a "popularity contest" would not be allowed. Case in point: Consider a poster with an excellent sense of humor and eloquence at the keyboard, whose posts always read in a witty and enjoyable fashion. Then on the other hand, consider a wise and careful poster who chooses their words carefully, provides exceptional - and accurate - detail and content in every post, and goes out of their way to be helpful yet is completely serious about what they choose to post.

Who would get more "Likes" as a percentage of total posts?

And who provides more of the vital information which educates newer collectors, which is our mission here?

We just feel it's a more egalitarian process to let the words of each stand on their own, without artificial "recognition" which might improperly sway the opinion of those who do not specifically know the poster in question. We do not wish for there to be any sort of "hierarchy" here save that provided by length of service to the Community.

Me: Hey honey, I'm going to work on a new sale this week.

Wife: Okay.

Mon: Can you wash the dishes tonight?

Tues: I need help getting ready for my craft fair.

Wed: Can you pick up the kid's toys?

Thurs: Can you do the dishes?

Fri: Let's binge Netflix. We never spend time together anymore.

Sat: I thought you said you were doing a sale this week? When are you actually going to start making money on this hobby?
