I want to spend dollar coins but I never get them in my change. Shouldn't have to keep going to the bank to get them to spend. Worst part is that the bank is where they'll end up after I spend them!

Why do you want to spend dollar coins? So you actually go to the bank to get them and then spend? Really? Why? You like walking around with change in your pockets? In my opinion, that coin was just another politically correct coin produced by the mint that failed.

A lot of people enjoy spending dollar coins. There's an entire thread on it here, in fact. Quote: In my opinion, that coin was just another politically correct coin produced by the mint that failed. If you're talking about the Native American dollar coins, perhaps. But there's nothing particularly PC about the Presidential dollar Coin series. And yes, every dollar coin effort has unfortunately failed because, as has been said countless times on this forum, the dollar coin will never gain any traction in the United States until the dollar note is eliminated.

I guess my point was "everyone gets a prize now-a-days". There seems to be a commemorative/series for everyday of the year. Just like stamps and the US Postal Service.

True in some areas, they have more leeway in others and could do what wanted with medals which admittedly would be less popular. I just feel like they have no interest in most of it though, I have a hard time believing congress would shut they down if they kept presenting plans for products that they knew they could make money on like elite world mints are

w/USSID18! Ever since the inception of putting that harpy on the almost quarter-sized failure known as the SBA, (whom the only circulation coins I received was in change from the old USPS stamp kiosks in the 80s&90s), then starting and stopping of circulation NIFCs of those fake golden series, as the old Greek Deli owner in my home town used to say, "wazzamattafoyubuddy!"

I get my dollar coins from my bank (only one branch). I live and work about 20 minutes away, so it is very unlikely the coins I spend make it back to that bank.

Banks by me don't even carry them any more. No one wants them.

I don't really understand why people are complaining about having to walk around with dollar coins in their pockets. Carrying around 3 or 4 dollar coins is no move inconvenient than carrying around 3 or 4 quarters. Personally I'd like to have both a $1 and $2 coin, similar to what Canada has done. Then you could carry 3 coins worth a total of $5.
I also don't understand folks who refer to the NA dollars as "politically correct". It's not as if we haven't put Native Americans on our coins before, after all. Personally I think the NA coins are absolutely gorgeous and it's a crying shame that most Americans have probably not seen one in years.
Size and design have nothing to do with the dollar coin's failure to circulate. It's the dollar bill.
