Picked this up over the weekend. Pretty small town in far southern Michigan which I had not heard of. Turns out to be a fairly common note, but this seems to be the lowest serial number by far. Condition appears to be crisp new with nearly perfect centering on both sides.

Very nice. Slab worthy I think. Any chance of a reverse photo? http://oldcurrencyvalues.com/1929__20_bill/

I don't know anything about them but it's certainly very appealing.

Looks like a great score, congrats! I wonder if there's any way to tell what the full production numbers were for F***A of that bank.

Good question, and I don't know the answer. This is from a 6-note Type 1 plate, with 6 identical serial numbers printed at the same time with only the prefixes changing (A to F). The highest serial number shown in the Kelly census is 305 for the Type 1 $20, so the total is probably not that great - even if you assume 500 sheets, that's 3,000 notes for all blocks, or 500 for each block such as the FA here.

The lowest serial number in the Kelly census is 46, and that's in VG/F.

Here's the reverse:

I don't have access to my Kelly book, but I believe it lists the serial number ranges for the various types issued by banks. E.g. 1929 Type 1 $10 1-325

http://www.antiquemoney.com/nationa...agiac-10073/ this website states there were 308 sheets of $20 Type 1's printed for this bank.

Saw that one on the Bay. I have a few Michigan notes; from places I've been over the years. Growing up, the family used to vacation at Bert Lake, Houghton Lake, and later Drummond Island in the U.P. Haven't been up that way except for car trades at dealerships in the lower part of the state.

Beautiful note Mr Frog. Had I been to Dowagiac, I would have been bidding as well.
