Going through some 1964 Kennedy halves and ran into this, not sure what to make of this if anything at all. It doesn't have the same type of mirror like finish and all signs point to something different. I need the EXPERTS to pass on some knowledge!

The reason I posted this was because all of the markers for the SMS, accented hair are on the reverse. Broken rays, straight G with no horizontal sherf, The B on Liberty on the obverse show another possible marker. Thanks for your input and knowing what it is! @Coinfrog

But the accented hair is a proof die, not a business strike die.

So markers only apply of they are on a variety. If they are not there, then it is not that variety. But it maybe normal design for a different series.

Regular strike, not SMS, definitely not Proof for the Accent Hair Variety, to these eyes.

@coop, I have five of these half dollars and fifteen from the Denver mint with the exact same reverse. Broken rays, G with no horizontal sherf. Why would some of these have this reverse while all of my others have solid rays and the G has a horizontal sherf? I have read a great deal about the Denver mint using the the same reverse die as the Philadelphia mint but these coins aren't recognized. Are they just regular ole Kennedy's?

Both the REV types are found on circulated and proof for this year.

Oops - Sorry, I made a mistake in my graphic - there were no "circulation" 70-Ds made - just mint set. I need to change that sometime.
