Can Anybody Help Me Understand What's Going On With This 1904 Half Dollar?

This half dollar looks half normal...the heads side is fine but the tails side has raised metal on it, looks like extra metal, and I can't figure out what's happened to it. I took some photos through a magnifier as well as just plain photos of both sides. Any advice would be appreciated.

Looks like it was removed from some kind of mounting and the residual stuff is probably solder.

It killed the collector value.

Almost looks like old cement or glue, maybe mounted at some point. Did you try an acetone soak?

Edit: After reading westernsky's response, I agree with his assessment. The darkened section would suggest that the coin got hot, like soldering.

bBelt Buckle mounted, a brazing with acid core solder wich ate away some of the coin's originsl surface but caused a pitting/corrosive effect on the coin. Most likely why coin in near UNc state.
