Had a thought on this. Adding a sentence in the tutorials, highlighted in green. Please orientate/preview photos properly before posting. What do the other members think on this? John1

I agree fully. That is one of my pet peeves when someone posts pictures sideways or even worse upside down. Second peeve is when someone has a writeup that looks like it is a text with no caps or punctuation.

No matter what I do and can't get some people to crop, rotate, or pretty much anything.

So my idea of adding a highlighted sentence to the tutorials would not help any? John1

I'll get it put in there later, but sad to say, it likely won't do any good. I spent 3 hours going through one users folder last week. The folder started at 175mb, when I was done it was 55mb. All I did was crop and orient correctly, nothing else. Over 100mb of disk space wasted. Cropping has been in the tutorial forever. I then sent an email I use in this situation.... Hi, Please be sure to crop images to only show the item you're imaging. This is easily accomplished on most phones and with Paint which is installed on most PCs. It can also be done with our free image optimizer. https://www.coincommunity.com/image-optimizer/Also, please give your uploads meaningful names so they can be searched later to avoid uploading them again and wasting disk space. Thank you, Admin This member is still uploading the same way they always have, lazy. Some people just have a "I don't have to pay for it" attitude.

I'd be happy to be able to post sideway pictures, I'm unable to post pictures on here, because I'm unable to resize them. I used to be able to post with the aid of photobucket, but I'm no longer capable.

bobby- At least if you put a statement in the tutorials, it might help some and anybody that didn't follow the rules, it could be pointed out to them. If someone continues even after a warning, could you not threaten to suspend their account? It would be the same as a suspention for other violations.

I put it in the big yellow box with the red border. Quote: I'd be happy to be able to post sideway pictures, I'm unable to post pictures on here, because I'm unable to resize them. I used to be able to post with the aid of photobucket, but I'm no longer capable. Why can't you?

Quote: I spent 3 hours going through one users folder last week. @bobby, sorry to have multiple conversations occurring in this one thread, but I wonder if this sort of memory management might be possible by the users. I've posted a ton of pics on CCF and so expect that I'm one of the guys soaking up a lot of your memory. Is there some way for me to decrease the footprint of my prior pics?

I have no issue with using disk space, only wasting it by not cropping or compressing to a normal value. 75% compression is perfectly fine for the internet. Spence, I just looked at your uploads and I'd have a party if even 10% of our members were as conscientious about it as you.

I just posted a test photo. The old version was easier. Need to give us dummies more steps after step 5 please. John1

If you're using the webresizer I think you are, it has a Rotate feature. Would it help if there were a button on the CCF page for that? If people aren't using the Crop button, maybe they wouldn't use Rotate either, but it's only one click without the work of moving crop-corners.

I found it much easier for me to crop and re-size images before I use the CCF optimizer. I think my issue is more my internet service out here in the boonies than anything else. It just took waaaay too long to upload an image that's 2600 x 2600 pixels.
If it would help free up space you could delete my images from 2012 to 2014. They were all taken with a point and shoot and are never used for re-posting.

There is a fantastic free program called Photoscape.and it's so easy to use even I can use it, and I'm 74.
It may not have all the bells & whistles that Photoshop has but for simple cropping, re-sizing and orienting, Phostscape is great.
