Hey all, Looking for a little advice. Just getting started on collecting, focusing on Liberties for now. Was in my local jewelry store replacing a watch battery, and in a corner case, they are consigning a coin collection. I spotted US Mint 20th Anniversary American Eagle Silver 3-Coin Set with Box like this. https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Mint-20...AOSwredZk5lHThey are asking $150. Any specific things I should look for before grabbing it that would say no? All the coins are still in there original packaging. I did not see or ask about a COA but imagine it is the same one that comes from the mint with any proof set and is likely in the box. Other than ebay, is there another place I can get a better feel for going prices? Thanks, JC *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

to the CCF~!! That is a nice set. One of my favorites. And $150 is a great price. I would look over the coins and make sure they do not have any distractions. They seem to sell for $170 - $200. And double check the COA is in the box.

Sounds like a good price ... I would check to make sure the correct coins are in the box.

Good advice from Debrajc and GR58. A quick check of sold listings on ebay confirms the $170-$200 estimate for the 20th anniversary ASE sets, and really, ebay IS the market unless you want to go haggle at coin shows. It is a nice set. to CCF and hope you enjoy your stay. There are a number of us ASE collectors here.

Sorry, new to the forum and this looked like the best place to me. Where else would I put it? Thanks again.

to CCF anyway! BTW, most people call them ASE (American Silver Eagles) not Liberties - those are usually Walking Liberty halves.

I would be all over that set at $150 or $200 The raw reverse proof sells for north of $230. The other two coins are normal MS and PF ASE's with SOME value just not as being from the set. They probably add $70-80 to the set price (for both) ..and ebay is probably the best source for TODAY prices from all over the planet That set was my first "all in" Mint product and I think I ended up with more than 40 sets...all but one I had graded by NGC. The one remaining set is still in the sealed Mint shipping box

When buying this set, you want to be sure the reverse proof is there. Not swapped out.

Thanks for all the great feedback! Stopped by today and picked up the set. Kinda odd the guy told them the prices to charge. Let the set go for $150, but had numerous single proofs priced at $70 each. A couple of the single proofs had some toning. None were graded. Wonder how he came to the $70 price tag.

Congrats! GREAT set; I almost forgot how gorgeous it is until yours and GR58's pictures! If the ASE bug hadn't bitten you yet, I'm sure it has now!

Very nice looking set. And $150 is a very good price.

Good grab on the set. I would pass on the "single proofs at $70" though. No mention of what year they are but most are available for around $40-50...and it is rare for an ASE kept in a capsule to tone. Recent sales of the 2006 W proof were in the $36 range and most should come with OGP and COA (except those taken from the set of course)
