Roosevelt dime with no Roosevelt. The backside of the dime is a good strike. The front has no detail at all.

anyone know how rare this is or how it happened?
Also I have had it for a real long time probably over 20 years and it looks like it was in on circulated condition when I found it. Any thoughts on how we could date it?

@IL, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with @oriole that we need better pics to see what is going on. It is most likey damage from a chemical, but it could be mechanical damage too. A brockage error is a possibility but better pics would help to confirm what you have.
