Just kind of curious as to where my fellow collectors find most of their coins?
I bought all of mine almost exclusively from shows for a very long time so I'm interested to see where you guys have been able to get coins, Auctions, Estate Sales, Pawn Shops ETC. I'm interested to see the spread of different mediums.

Other people. By any means possible... But don't let your mind get carried away! I don't travel so all must by purchased or circulation found from on-line auctions, ebay or business/stores. There's only two so called "dealers", one strictly high end coin/bullion/jewelry the other "if it ain't old shiny or gold it just grows mold" don't leave many possibilities. Oh, yea, pawn shops selling junk silver at 20% above spot plus a "nominal" handling fee (huh?)...on line is it. I do like the estate type auctions and mixed lot grab bag lots, have done OK on most.

Mostly ebay. I only have one LCS close to me that I drop in every now and then but he's kinda high on the prices.

FUN, Lakeland Collectorama, LCS, ebay, Realcent, Bullionstacker and here. When at all possible, I prefer to hold it before I buy it, but all of the online options I use have return policies and/or people I trust.

As stated above, ebay and circulation are the two big ones for me. But, whenever I can get my hands on an old collection or jar of change that has been sitting, that is a bonus.

Well, circulation was my original supplier. Most of the purchased stuff has come from coin shows. There have been coin shop buys over the years, although that has not happened in a while. It should be mentioned that I have recently made some purchases on ebay.

ebay is the only auction venue I use. I just haven't ever registered at Great Collections, Heritage and all the others. I have a long list of dealers in "favorites" and check out their websites frequently. The rest from coin shows. I have a favorite dealer that prices the coins I pick out fairly. He keeps an eye out for what ever I might be working on.

Last year by dollars spent. Heritage - 31% Great Collections - 26% Stacks - 21% Shows - 14% ebay - 5% Other - 3% ebay is less and less every year.

Most of mine comes from a local We Buy Gold type place and I can usually get some good deals from him. If not from him, then I will hit up a coin show every couple months for more high end stuff and occasionally I will pick up a collection off ads I run on Craigslist.
