Just found this one today in a batch of V nickels I bought ive seen coins missing the clad layer before this one is still attached and coming up not sure what to call it what do you guys think let me know ;)   *** Edited by Staff to remove YELLING. Can't be a clad layer because it is solid nickel. Looks like a real nice lamination. John1

such a thick lamination never seen them like this every attached lamination ive had has been alot thinner of a layer this one you could cut your self on it lol

You might ask Mike Diamond if he has an idea. Fred Weinberg on ebay might have an idea of value. But it is probably a valuable coin.

This is a great Lamination error and it's huge! This will be worth a good premium. Some people would call this a "Clamshell" since the Lamination is deep and large. See this link. http://www.doubledimes.com/Clamshell.html

Not a clam shell. The edge of the coin would be split.  Note how this looks like a clam shell. This OPs nickel is just a lamination issue.

To me it looks like it was in some sort of holder because the stars on the west side seem AU and the stars on the right side seem worn. So my first thought was it was at the end of a watch fob or something. I have so much to learn.....

thats cool didnt even look at the stars but it has a weak strike on one side and strong on other its an AU coin still has luster but didnt notice that tell you just pointed it out also noticed the rev is misaligned
