Hi
a 1994 p LMC not in great condition but it appears to have what looks like part of a column in the last bay and out into the field. not sure but I do not think this is a knife scar? as its very straight, it does not travel over the column or touch it, the line terminates before the top and side where the two "columns" meet and the shape is not "pushed" up but looks to be formed and seems like alot more material than I would think a knife blade would displace because Ive tried to replicate this with a fine exacto knife... cant get a straight line deep enough to displace metal without cutting into the zinc core never mind inbetween the two columns without cutting into or somehow marking the columns. also what has me stumped is, inside the columns, "knife line" appears to be about level with the field not below and sides raised but the right side "knife line" looks to be down into the field with no raised sides...cant have it both ways...? any thoughts/explanations would be greatly apprieciated
Thank you in advance for your input

Thanks Stoneman227 that makes sense!
I understand roughly how a feeder finger would work and see how it would scar the die in such a way as the two would be moving in unisen
Might anyone know of any really good links.. videos.. pics to the complete minting process that is really in depth? I would like to see the process (and not have to travel to the mint for a visual tour) I saw one a while back but would like something even more in depth to the entire minting process so I can understand it/learn more about it
Thank you

Coop
Thank you for the videos !! you have outdone yourself once again answering my question, and as you have done within other posts you reply too with your knowledge. always so informative and well answered.
I hope you dont get tired of answering some of my/others questions (and I hope they dont seem/sound silly at times) as I would like to ask more while I try to put all this knowledge together, so that I may be more educated in the facts/details of this profession / hobby-in my case (in addition to all the other hobbies I have lol)
Once again, Thank you. My hats off to you !
Have a GREAT day everyone!

My goal is to keep everyone get the answer they need, then think of what it will to their knowledge of coins. Trust me it took years to learn, so I try to help accelerate the process. For years I was always told yes or no. But that really never helped. When someone would go to the next level and help, then I thought to myself that is a lot better than a yes or no answer. Then images with explanations, overlays, side by sides and so forth. I love it when I see someone post when I'm not there and they use the same words, images and care I put into this hobby. The images posted here has also help me grow also. So it is not one sided. It is all family helping their family. That is what this site encourage just by it name. Don't forget to be a supporter. Where would we be if this went away?
