USSID18, I did not realize that the 36-D was one of the ones you are actively looking for. Now I feel like I may have come across as a bit of a jerk with my sarcasm. That was not at all the intent. My sincere apologies.

No, I didn't take it that way at all. Not a problem. Yes, I've been in the market for a 36-D MS61 or better (at the right price) for awhile now. I'm in no rust. I guess I'll know it when I see it.

If well circulated is ok, I will mail you a 36-D for free as an apology.

Wow! That's a very nice offer and gesture on your part. But really, no apology necessary. Thank you!

It's still out there. The guy relisted it and didn't even reduce the price! I wonder if those scratches are on the slab or on the coin behind his head?

Here's another one. For me it's eye appeal. I'm not a grader. This one would standout (just like the other one) and not look good in my album.

I think the scratches are on the holder.

This is a coin that is only going to degrade further over time. I'm sure the owner knows it and that's why he is trying to cut his losses by unloading it ASAP.

Most likely the coin has severe corrosion problems under the dark toning splotches. Buying it and cracking it out of the holder in an attempt at "conservation" would most likely not end up with a good outcome.

If it were mine I would at least crack it out of the tomb it's rotting in. I'd get it into a Dansco quarter or type album so it could live the rest of its days out in dignity.

The big money for this coin is gone and ain't coming back.

Buy the coin not the slab:

What happened to the Strike details?

Look at the Reverse closely -- am I seeing things or are all the leaves wore off?

Yeah, because it's a BIN with Best Offer now. As a seller you should always make the price higher if you want to collect offers.

He's doing exactly what I would do if I wanted offers.

Let me put it to you this way. If the guy offered me the coin for free, with the stipulation, "I had to put the coin in my album" I would say: no thanks.

In the "lookit udders" section below on my comp showed two different 36Ds in 65 for $375, $475 (musta had dates/mm wrong!)and these are &&*^^%$ nice coins! So whomever this seller is, is really playing the poor suckers. These guys IMHO are as bad as those who sell fakes knowingly. Either that or I'd be looking at a shill increase here. Just ask a friend to help ya out, no problem, canx sale if it don't fly. Happens all the time, ebay isn't exempt from it.

This is the ebay version of make me an offer. Nothing deceitful about it at all. The biggest, most honest, sellers on ebay do it. ebay forces you to put a BIN on a best offer listing, if you want to field offers then common sense says to put an unrealistic BIN on it since you must put something. I would have put an even thousand dollars BIN on it and collected offers to see if I got an offer I liked.

Neat trick on a BIN/Best Offer listing.

I know the seller. He is a friend of mine.

I totally agree with Bobby, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the way he is selling this coin.
