*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

Looking for opinions as this penny has me a little perplexed. It is a '72 D Lincoln Cent with some weird stuff going on on the obverse. Some reasons I'm not sure if it's PMD or not: the reverse is unscathed, it still weighs out to 3.1 (would think if it were damage some would have come off lowering the weight), and while the picture doesn't do it justice, the imprint looks a lot like an imprint of the memorial on the reverse. Thoughts?
Edit: Apologies for the title! Thank you mods for correcting me

Looks like PMD to me. Maybe a bench vise?

It is just a damaged coin. When it gets back to the bank, it will be returned to the mint to be removed from circulation. Not a keeper.
