I'm still very new but am starting to get an understanding of different types of errors and what they will look like so needless to say when I looked at this 1989d penny and could see with my naked eye several very noticeable bouble die errors I almost feel like it's gotta be a fake or doesn't hold any value so I'd love a second opinion if you'll look the columns on the memorial pretty much all have been doubled as "states of America" on the reverse on the obverse it appears as if the d mint mark has been doubled as well as possibly some of the date.

Few things to know:it is Lincoln Cent not penny. If your coin was doubled, it would be a variety not an error. There are many types of doubling look here and read the entire page please http://koinpro.tripod.com/Articles/...Doubling.htm

Well I reviewed that page you asked me to look at and I'm still having trouble deciding if it is Machine Doubling or not

Look up a list of the know doubled dies for 1989 d and you will see that they are all very subtle and mostly affect the date. I see some DDD on the reverse ( like around the T in cent). As well as MD. MD will be flat and shelf like, and since it is striking the same devive over again to create that affect the device will actually lose a little of it's size. Someone on had really nice illustration of this. I think it's Crazyb0. hopefully they will come along soon.

Also for the doubled colums, grab another coin from that series and use it for reference I think you are seeing the normal design.

Another good way to find the info on MD is to simply search here on CCF. There have been some very informative posts over the years.

Here are just some (and you will note coop is prominent in educating all of us in them):

The following may take some studying after looking at other links to lay the foundation, but grasping this one will give a very good handle on the subject:

The SE area of the mint mark is showing split plating damage and the zinc is starting to rise in that area.

Not sure what you are calling doubling? The devices look normal is size. Just not a pretty coin to look at.
