1936 DDO-002? That's what it looks like to me. Any grading experts that happen to be here? I'll ask in the grading forum tomorrow just for my 2x2. Thanks.

Looks like it to me. Nice catch!

As far as grade, VF-XF something. The pics aren't good enough to get into detail.

I would grade it VF-35.

The authenticity is definitely questionable. there is discontinuity on the left wheat right above united. It seems that forger tried to remove Chinese die chip as the tooling marks are in the area where the die chip would normally be. Can you post a picture of the edge of coin?

Also the rim does not appear to have a bowl like appearance like it should. Also on Lincolns face right above his ear there is a raised area that is very uncharacteristic.

Nope. I don't see a reason why this particular variety would be counterfeited and, even if it was, this is not one to question. The area above Lincoln's ear is a more recent scrape that revealed fresh copper.

It's the real deal.

The meaning of that is lost on me and it's not for lack of understanding.

It is a MD, DDO. It happens. Real deal, Just MD damaged after the strike by die movement on a doubled die.

Great garage sale find! It's the real deal too! It's a DDO and it has Machine Doubling also. Machine Doubling can happen on Doubled Dies too. Pretty cool!

Has character. I'm not to good at grading yet, but Halo would've gave it two or three woof's. Put that on your 2x2. Thanks, Doug.

MD can happen as easily on doubled dies as well. Same process damages them just as easily. (die movement after the strike)
