Scratch another one off the old "bucket list". I have long wanted a Carson City Morgan silver dollar, but have not found one that was nice and I could afford. This week on ebay I came across an auction for an 1883-CC that had a dark scan of the coin. Here is the seller's scan. I put in a bid and was surprised to win the auction for $135. I've been waiting nervously for the coin to come to see if I made a good buy or a bad one. It showed up today and I am thrilled! Here are a number of photos using different lighting to try and capture the colorful toning and cartwheel luster. It has a few marks on the cheek, but the fields are pretty clean. It looks much nicer than the typical baggy Carson City coin. The reverse is virtually mark free. Paul Bulgerin

Congrats, nice score! What a beauty compared to the sellers pictures too! I 'lightly' collect Morgans, and a 'CC' is definitely on my want list as well.

Seeing the original pictures, I would not have bid on that coin. Seeing your pictures ... nice pickup Edit ... Congrats on joining the Morgan CC club

Nice pick up and at a good price.
Most likely it was originally in the GSA sale in the $15 dollar "reject" category. Once the original owner received the coin it was cracked out of it's GSA "tomb". A lot of those toned coins were very nice....just like yours!
I hope you enjoy it for a long time!

As a youth, my parents gave me a well worn '82 CC for a Christmas present. It took me another 20 years before I worked a trade this past year while I was waiting on my Irma Evacuation to end to secure my first through my own efforts. It's an 82 with a heavy die clash that I simply couldn't evacuate my evacuation without! It was a thrill to walk out of the shop with it. It's amazing the vibe the CCs still carry a century later.
Congrats on the Milestone! Beautiful coin!
