Running through some stuff and thought I would post pics of this amazing beauty. I cannot take pics well enough to do her justice. My lack of skills made darker areas and some marks I do not seen in hand (like the line to her left in the field). The luster is simply an amazing, original, blinding shine. And the best part... it the very hard to find hand engraved initials variety. I think she is my favorite walker.

If it is indeed hand engraved, need a diamond tipped cutter, much like a dental drill to do this, plus a lot of skill, to get it right first time.
Possible to use a spark die erosion process as well. More control. Probably not available, when the initials were cut in this one.
A few nicks in the left leg.
I have to admit: I prefer blast white MS silver coins, to those with a nice patina. Closer to being a mint fresh example. Just me.

You almost have to collect Walkers white, as nicely toned original examples are extremely tough to find.
Yours is certainly a headlight example.

OK - some advice needed here.
It would be very hard to let this one go, but seeing the replies, my suspicions are confirmed that this one might sell for a very high price if I play the slab to sell game.
Opinions? Does it look to be high enough on the MS scale to take off at an auction?
I ask b/c this one does stand out like a sore thumb in the normally circulated group I have, and she might enable me to get the coveted 1921-D in grade other than G or AG.

I was just about to ask if it would come back from a TPG as Damaged - Graffiti. Whether others think so might influence your slabbing decision. It's a beautiful coin regardless.

Sorry, my bad, I was not aware of this variety and for some reason I took "very hard to find hand engraved initials variety" as hyperbole. sel_691's comment contributed to me thinking it was done outside the mint, like a counterstamp. This http://www.error-ref.com/re-engrave...ing_liberty/ says it was done with a "very small chisel-like implement".

I can see how that was easy enough to do I know there are a lot of varieties from different series out there I have no idea about. it would have been better if I had posted the FS-901 with this to begin with.

Quote: Opinions? Does it look to be high enough on the MS scale to take off at an auction? I found one in PCGS MS-66 on the CU bst board. The asking price was $250, it did not sell.

Those are the designer's initial and were part of the die. Adolph Weinman (AW). In other words they were struck that way by the Mint. The variety is the 50¢ pieces without the initials. This was caused by overzealous die polishing and to the best of my knowledge are only missing on the 1941 proofs. I know this because I was born in 1941 and have a full set of high grade 1941 coins including both 50¢ types.

@Kanga Most of the 44-Ds have a typical AW on them. From Heritage auctions: Please also see the varietyvista.com link above that shows the FS-901 designation.
