NGC is considerably more difficult to get AT through, although it does happen.
PCGS, on the other hand must actually have a dipping room for those "things". Lots of them.

Could be a gasser and has nothing to do with PCGS.

OMG! THAT is definitely artificial toning.

Yep, there's one seller in particular on ebay.

Could have kept toning in the slab too after being graded. Looks like that one probably is pretty dark at this point and takes a strong light to show off the color. Some ASEs do wild things, only the submitter will probably really ever know the truth

Biggfredd lived a block from a glass factory and left one on his window sill for a month one summer, you should have seen the colors on it. Makes you wonder what people living there are breathing every day.

Does make you think whether or not you should move though when your outside air does that so quickly

I don't think its a gasser. It does not show the elevation chromatics of a gas phase toned coin, AT or not. Somebody dipped this in a solution.

Is HA auctioning off artificially toned coins now? They are auctioning off a coin from a consignment. You'll notice they make NO MENTION of the toning or color. You buy it and have a problem with it, think the toning is artificial, take it up with the grading service. It's in the terms of sale, other than for reasons of authenticity TPG slabbed coins are not returnable for any reason.

I have called HA a couple of times to have coins removed from auction. HA is not going to make any judgement on the grading accuracy of PCGS on what coins should or should not be sold at auction. HA would pull a coin from auction If the coin holder had a label error, tampered, and coin or holder was not genuine.

As long as people are prepared to pay a premium for stuff like this, it will continue to be done.
