I found a 1988 D RDV. I had about 1000 1988s set aside till I knew what to look for. I only found one but it still made my day.

Id like to take a pic but only detail that shows it an RDV is the FG on the reverse. I cant get small details on my camera to come up clear. I have a Kodak 6.1 Mega pixels. if anyone can tell me the best way to get fine details with this camera would be much appreciated.

That same year I found an interesting doubled Obverse the other day. The date and one letter in the motto was doubled.

So far I haven't found a listing for it. It could be listed somewhere or it could be a new discovery. I just haven't pursued to see which yet.

To be honest, I doubt you would even need macro. Make sure the camera is on a tripod, set it up about 12 inches from the coin, make sure you are straight on with it, supply good light to it, and set the camera to take it on timer so your hand never touches it. Once you have a clear photo, at 6.1mp, you should be able to crop and resize to really get the spot in question pretty large without sacrificing much detail at all. Of course, the macro function would work also, but most don't allow focus, and lighting is tougher since you are so close to the coin with the camera itself. I would try taking a picture from the closest distance the "auto" settings will still focus, and then start cropping and resizing larger.

Hello fellows. I just recently posted on Coin Photography Forum a trick on how to enhance your photos with two magnifiers. It is very affordable for us who are operating on a limited budget.

I am going to invent an error coin searching machine that will find errors at the push of a button. That would be nice. I guess you would have to program it and have optics recognition. You could take a picture of an error and feed it into the search computer and dump your coins in and let it run!

I'm guessing you have an easyshare model or something close. I like them personally because they are small and still take decent photos.
That being said, either on the wheel up top or on a button in the back you should see the flower icon for macro setting. On these cameras, your probably talking about a 4-5 inch distance. There should also be a menu type button with with "ok" on it or something like that on the back of the camera. Round button with up/down and right/left buttons surrounding it. Typically hitting the middle button will bring up a menu and you will see a timer selection.
no need to buy a tripod right now if you don't have one. Find the timer setting, stack up some book on either side of the coin and lay the camera facing down and use the timer that way.
Let us know if you need anymore help. There is also the photography section as I'm sure you are aware of, and Superdave and learjet to name a couple are probably the closest people to our resident experts.

Learn the language, then you can use it. Ask questions there and start you new information flowing into the brain. Most of the time you just have to experiment with what you have to get the best out of it. When you've exhausted that and can't improve it, then move to a different camera/scope/software/lighting. These all have a part in getting the images you really want. Also check out the coppercoins.com/ forum. There is also a great wealth there about taking images in the Photography section.
