Has anyone ever roll searched dollars? I've been thinking of starting that once we finish our Kennedy set, or maybe before. In particular, I'd be looking for NIFC Sac dollars. Has anyone tried this, and have they had any luck? Any input would be great....just want to know if it'd be a waste of time.

Nope. I imagine NIFC dollars would end up in circulation just like the Kennedy half dollars do. It might be worthwhile to give it a shot!

What is NIFC? I have gone through a few rolls of dollars that I got from the bank and found two 1979 SBA's near dates. The rolls are always mixed with SBA's and SAC's and now with the President's. John1

i have found a 2004 sac in a coin machine bag before so I'm dead positive their out there, one hurdel that must be overcome is to get rolls of circulated dollars many banks tend to only carry uncirculated Presidential dollars. The only box of dollars I ordered ended up being all john adams dollars in uncirculated condition I told them thanks but no thanks.

I have found several 2004s, 2005s, and 2007 Sackies- 10 total, both mints. They were all in a tellers scratch tray. A few weeks before this, I got a 1979-S T2 SBA with just a couple minor hairlines in the fields from another scratch tray at the same bank

My bank once told me that they had two HUGE bags with thousands of dollars each full of Sacagawea coins.....this was before the Presidential dollars came out.......so now I wonder if they'd be "mixed" or not ? If not mixed, it could be interesting to go through a bunch and see what there is to find..... And yes.....I asked if I could "pick out" the ones I wanted out of the bag......sort of half kidding .......and yes......they said no. But they did not have "rolls" of Sac's......just two very large bags they said.

I was routinely roll hunting dollars before the Presidential series came out. I've picked up maybe 35 Ikes, several SAC NIFC, about 20 79P SBA wide rims, several circulated proofs, etc. It was a lot of fun. Once the Presidential series came out, they mixed those into the SBA and SAC and now more than 50% of the coins are Presidential dollars, so I gave up.

I have found a few 1979P wide rims as well. Now-a-days it does seem that there are just tons of Presidential dollars clogging tellers' trays. Honestly I've even had a hard time finding BU examples of the Presidential dollars that have been released thus far.

kool, thanks everyone. I think I'm going to give it a shot, the worst that can happen is I end up spending a lot of Presidential dollars :)
