No way. Such a large clip would have other symptoms. Blakesley effect and softness around the clip area.

There would be great distortion along rim at 180 degrees out and a loss of detail depth as the metal attempted to flow into the open areas. Another product of our favorite un-namable garage imp!

Looks correct for a huge curved clip:

Thanks guys I had my suspicions. I have much smaller clips that show distortion in the lettering around the clip. I'm just seeing coops post looking into it. Thanks

On the larger clips the fade is not as strong on the clipped area. On your coin the fade is happening on the opposite side. Blaksley affect changes a bit also. But I do see a slight effect on one side of the coin.

Cool. Thanks a lot coop. It looked so perfect that it would be hard to do in a garage

Very nice snag and congratulations! It's a real Clip. Also, genuine Clips don't always have the Blakesley Effect.
Errers and Varietys.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. This is not a legitimate clipped planchet. Forget Blakesley. The rims and devices approaching and colliding with the clip show no signs of weakness. This is machined PMD. None of these pics show what should be seen with a clipped planchet: This is the area on the reverse where the Blakesley Effect should be seen, and I see the exact opposite.

Here's a pic of another large clip I found on google. This one is legitimate and I don't see the effect on it?

The second coin that you posted shows the Blakesley effect quite well.

Is that it above his head. That's what I was thinking. I don't see that on my coin. As you guys know I don't generally argue with anyone on here just wanted to get to the bottom of this one. The clip looked so perfect, that's why I kept posting. Thanks again for all the responses

The rim along the word liberty is flattened. That is the Blakesley effect. I would point out, that A) I really shouldn't argue with coop. B) The 2nd coin that you posted does not seem to have any fading toward the clip. C) Since E & V says that the lack of Blakesley is not a sure way to rule out a clip, your coin may well be a genuine clip. I still think it is not, and I am relieved to see that I am not alone, but I have no proof.
