westernsky Pillar of the Community United States 7618 Posts	Posted 07/09/2018 12:38 am Yeah the prices seem awfully low by today's' standards, but it sure is fun to look at them. I was able to bid and win a few coins back then during the GSA sales. I got a few 78-CC's at 15$ along with the 82/83/84-CC's at 30$. Putting things in perspective my car payment on my 69 Mustang was 77$ a month (I paid $3300 for it new!). Gas was about 30 cents a gallon and I made a whopping $1.80 an hour working about 65 hours a week. Thanks for posting ! Report this Post to the Staff

I also seem to remember the main reason my grandfather did not sending a bid was that there is no definite statement on the brochure as to what happens to your money if you do not win a bid. jimbucks Pillar of the Community United States 4692 Posts	Posted 07/20/2018 4:27 pm What is interesting, unless I am mistaken, the coins from the $15 group that "do not meet the standards for uncirculated" came in a GSA holder without the word "uncirculated" on it. I ended up getting a few of these from this sale. Now, if one checks out graded GSA coins many (and I do mean many) of the high graded TPG coins actually are in these holders, so those that did the sorting probably didn't really know what to look for. Here is an example that's on ebay for over $100,000. The sorter probably thought the toning put it into the $15 group. Edited by jimbucks 07/20/2018 4:34 pm Report this Post to the Staff
