Hi,

It appears to be a DDO:-) It is a later die stage though. In any case the doubling is visible.

Good Job!

Have Fun,
Bill

The third image raises a red flag with me. Note the mint mark and the direction of the Machine Doubling. The direction of the doubling appears to be in the same direction. Not saying it isn't/is. Just raises a red flag to me. The doubling appears minor, so I'm unsure right now.

I see what you're saying coop - ill try taking an oblique shot of the doubling on the 7 to show whether it is flat or not.

Hi Guys,

I See 8 notches on the word TRUST alone:-) The last one has a nice notch at the top too.

Keep in mind that Machine Doubling can happen on any coin and does happen on coins that are struck by doubled dies.

Have Fun,
Bill

I see nothing. Using lighting that comes from multiple directions is confusing when trying to produce the shadows required to see hub doubling, especially minor hub doubling.

The images do not show notching in my opinion - they show what lighting from different directions can look like at the corner of a beveled edge...namely the lettering.

Change the lighting so that it comes only from one direction, turn the coin so that the lighting catches the notches at the corners of the lettes, then take the images again. That would show one way or the other whether this is a doubled die

CC - this is from a LED lighted microscope directly on top of and touching the surface of the coin. The only light reaching the coin is coming from the LEDs in the lighted microscope. Is the fact that the microscope uses multiple LEDs (about 5-6 spaced evenly around the circumference of the viewing eye) causing the multiple lighting issue you are noting? If so, I don't think there's anything I can do because when I get the microscope this close, no other light can really penetrate.

I'll see what I can do when I get home though...

Chuck,

When I get back later, I'll point out the notches and grooves on the word TRUST and the last 1 in the date. It has nothing to do with the lighting in this case although the lighting could be better.

The stuff is there:-) It's a DDO.

Thanks,
Bill
