It looks very similar to my example. Possibly from the same die pair maybe? Would this be your first example of extreme Die Deterioration that you've ever found 11997755? It's a keeper as well also.

Awesome 11997755! That's a great find! I remember finding my most extreme Die Deterioration on a 1982 P LMC 1 month ago, and it looks like yours, except it's even worse. I wonder if your coin came from the same exact die pair as mine?

I have a coffee filter directly over the light cover but this still lets too much light thru. I need to experiment with some different set-ups when I have time because the images are what it's all about when posting coins for show and tell.

The 1982 cent at the top of this thread shows severe die wear. Additionally, it's showing the beginnings of peripheral die expansion and erosion. The outermost portions of the peripheral letters are just beginning to get cut off at the design rim. See this entry for more information: http://www.error-ref.com/?s=periphe...+and+erosion

Mike Diamond, I thought it was showing Peripheral Die Expansion and Erosion too. Thank you very much for replying! It's highly appreciated.

Thank you Mike for taking a look at, commenting, and providing a link on this error. Thank you everyone for your input on this one. Without your help I may have tossed in the scrap pile as a Dryer Coin.

You're very welcome and no problem! I have also found out that the U.S. Mint nearly minted 11 billion of these Large Date Cents (Mark told me in an email). This is a keeper. It will be a nice addition to your collection.
