I think mine is better than VF25 which is what ANACS says. Maybe I should have sent this one to NGC. Look at this overgraded example on ebay in VF25. 332743344964Anyway, buy the coin not the holder.

Yes yours is much better! As you know from our previous threads and posts, from where I sit these Buff grades seem to be all over the map.

i agree with your assessment. the obverse on this coin exhibits XF40 sharpness, the reverse however VF30. in any case this coin is under graded. I would net grade this at V35.
one thing I noticed was the motto on the reverse is exhibiting weakness in strike on the left side and stronger on the right. this could be one reason why the horn is not fuller than it should be.

Without a doubt your coin is undergraded. IMO ANACS has been a little stiff on some of my submissions as well. I think the graders may have been in a bad mood when they graded yours, a Monday perhaps.

I am glad I am not alone on this. They were tough on all my Buffalos, a V and Shield nickel as well. My capped bust halves were pretty strict too. On the other hand, on a few others that were more valuable coins, they were at least right on or a bit forgiving. I don't understand everything about a 3 legged nickel but it would make some sense to me that the over polishing that caused it to be the variety that it is, may have something to do with loss in details in other areas of the coin as well. ( Isn't that why the motto E Pluribus Unum is not touching the back of the buffalo on this variety? Maybe it has something to do with loss of "full horn" detail as well? ) Regardless, it is safe where it is right now and the coin is more important than the grade they gave it. At least it came back authentic and not cleaned.

as well. More like 35. I quit sending coins to ANACS, even with their special deals, because of their shotgun grading. At shows I look ANACS over very carefully on types I know. I've purchased several coins that were significantly under graded as is yours.

The tip of the horn is not separate. To me that means lower VF at best.

VF-35, agree it looks undergraded and that it might be strike weakness affecting the horn.

I would say VF-35 as well, super 3-legger.

Graet coin TNG. I am with the others in that the grader missed the mark that day. Quote: I don't think you're going to get many people volunteering that their coins are over graded True and as I look through my all my TPG slabs I have concluded they are all undergraded.
