Guys I have noticed a big drop in comments I get especially on minor errors or doubled die questions I have. It has come to my attention that I need to be better read on these things. I would like to thank you guys for your help and teaching. I don't keep hardly any of the coins I post. ( maybe ten in the last year). I just like to ask questions. I'll give you guys more room to answer the newbies questions. Thanks again

Willburton keep asking. This is an education and communication forum. I would find it very hypocritical for anyone to say you ask too many questions on a site based on member communication. If you asked the same question or the result was the same ( PMD for example) over and over about different coins there is no obligation to keep answering. But the time you have something truly unique and don't ask then we have all missed an opportunity to see and learn. The other part, as you go forward looking at coins it is always beneficial to make efforts to increase your knowledge in the area you are seeking help on. As the saying up top says 'Education is the key to collector success'. So educate yourself in addition to allowing the "experts" here to help educate.

By the OP's own admission, he can look it up himself, but just likes to ask questions. At no time did anyone say to stop asking questions on something he cannot figure out for himself.

There is nothing wrong with asking questions, as long as you are learning this hobby. There are around a dozen members who are having a hard time grasping this hobby,asking the same questions over and over again. Not everyone is suited for this hobby,if you just "don't get it" try a different hobby. CCF has a nice sister site for stamp collectors,check it out. Maybe that is for "you". If you post a question and get a bunch of reads but no posts,well then... This comment is not directed at any one person,but around a dozen. John1

@wilburton, I hadn't noticed you asking too many questions, but I'm not super-observant about these things. Now that you do bring it up, I do like to see a transition from noobs asking "what is this?" to more regular members asking "I think that I have this. Can you please confirm?" We all reach that second stage at different rates. I hope that you always feel welcome to ask questions on CCF.

@wilburton,
There may be times that the respondents will drop in numbers due to vacations, kids going back to school and what not, but as mentioned keep asking questions and the important thing is that your question will always be answered by experts on this Forum now whether by One or by 10 people, it will be given attention to.

Willburton, as has been stated, there is ABSOLUTELY no problem with asking a question, or continuing to ask the same questions in general to help get over a snag in understanding. When I encounter such folks, I will just try a new approach/cconcept to attempt to break through the mind block so one can finally get to the point of understanding the answer. BUT, there MUST come a point in any educational system where a serious student begins using the tools he(she, it, Heinz 57) has repeatedly been given. That knowledge will never become personal, "your own", until you do. There are two life's adages that are of prime importance here. "You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make them drink" And the "Teacher's(Manager's, Parents) Clause", "Teach yourself out of a job". As a former businessman, manager, I got there because I "taught" my installation abilities to someone else. I didn't have to protect my knowledge to save my job, I became promoted because I had "followers" who could do my old job. I then had to learn NEW responsibilities. That is why we "pass it on", and when you finally "have it", you can give it! It is the same in the military, Sargents teach Privates, Lieutenants teach Sargents. I believe there are 3 types of people in the world. There are Sheep, Wolves and Guardians. Sheep aren't the mindless masses(necessarily) but are followers, they plod along, doing their own thing, but are vulnerable to the Wolves who want to take even if possible the sheep's life, and there are those who choose to stand up to the Wolves, correct what is wrong and fight the Wolf if necessary. We are all one or the other of these, but, people can change, that is their CHOICE. And it comes from doing your OWN HOMEWORK! Quote: If you post a question and get a bunch of reads but no posts,well then...This comment is not directed at any one person,but around a dozen. John1, excellent point. I seem to be a lightning rod at times myself, I will get few daring souls to respond, but many lookee-sees. So? It all comes down to quality postings and necessity. Which can be a conundrum anywhere, even here on CCF.

This site is a GREAT site to ask questions; that's how we learn.
My favorite- The only dumb question is the question we don't ask.

Quote: "You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make them drink" I've found some horses do drink, while some do not. I used bounce around to many forums here on CCF, but now focus mainly on this one. If you're referring to a specific topic in this or another forum, please link to it or bump it for further exposer. I've found sometimes specific information is straight forward while other times it may need a greater audience. When doing so please explain why. Case in point check your 1859 inquiry now. I see it was answered, but yet a bit lacking. Thanks, Doug. http://goccf.com/t/327101

I have only been collecting error cents since November 2017, I have asked a lot of questions often about different cents on different threads asking the same question. EVERYONE, on this site that have commented on them have given me a great education. I don't do that so much anymore as I've learned a great deal about this hobby. Never feel like you ask too many questions, that's how we (especially old guys like me) learn. They have made me feel welcomed on this site and I hope you feel the same.
