I found this interesting 1965 P LMC while CRH and while it doesn't appear MAD it is a cool cent nonetheless and first one I have ever seen. The 5 on the date is what reminds me of the poor mans doubled die and that's about it. There are no V.D.B. initials as that probably occurred through abrasion and the vest especially the right half does appear doubled. I think its a keeper because of its uniqueness!

VLDS (Very-Late-Die-State) die struck your coin. It is showing the die was in the last part of it life. No premium for these.

The SE edge of the bust area looks like that area was over polished on that area. Strange looking coin though.

Working up this image and thinking about the die polishing and how we never see this before, got me working on an image realizing a mistake was made. This is not what I though it was. (bummer)

A new one for me. Die polishing and vending machine damage from a Gumball Machine.

I find Very Late Die State coins to be interesting to study. That does remind me of the Poor-Man's Doubled Die as well.

Thank guys! I normally wouldn't keep something that shows this kind of die wear but this one is pretty cool. It's only worth something to me!

That says an awful lot Mr. Coop. I know you've been at this a pretty good stretch.

Now the question has to be asked, if it were from some type of vending machine, why are there no other marks to show that it was? Every one that I have ever seen that went through a gum ball machine obliterates the tops of the bust as well as the L and I in LIBERTY. That also includes coin wrapping machines. So a vending machine can actually raise a devise like that on the lower part of the 5?

Depending on what the machine needed to trigger it to work. But I've seen a lot of these and seems more like the date area is affected on the last digit.

I found two images. I guess I will need to save more of these when they are posted.

You know, come to think of it, I have seen that on cents. But it pushes, peels the material towards the center. The 5 on my cent is flowing towards the rim with no damage to the top of the devise. So you still think a Gumball Machine did that?

I sent Mike Diamond pictures of the cent and he believes like I do that it was caused by Die Deterioration just like the 1955 poor mans Doubled Die.
