I'm pretty sure that this coin has an error but I want full conformation. The word In has a smudge which looks like I and N fused together.

To CCF! You have what we call Die Deterioration, It's caused by the die from being worn, from striking a ton of coins. It's not an error, the the result of normal wear and tear. You can see heavy die flow lines, musiness of the devices, and the loss of details. It's only worth face value, since this is a normal part of the process.

@Mason P, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with E&V that the die from which this coin was struck may have been pretty beat up, although without a pic of the full coin, I do note that it might also be normal wear and tear contributing to the poor distinction between letters.
