Continuing List To Show Everyones Latest Acquisitions

friends, I'm going to carry on with getting caught up on posting pix of 'recent' acquisitions since a miami coin shop visit december 1, 2021.

two weeks later, december 14, 2021, I found myself back at the coin shop in miami, here's what I nabbed.

the first thing I claimed was the smallest piece of gold in the display, a canadian 2014 twenty-five cent gold proof, pretty cool, didn't know they made those!







i put a Roosevelt dime in that pic for scale.

next thing I claimed was this fabulous nickel:





pretty sharp, that went into the 7070.

next I claimed this 1878 8tf Morgan dollar..




this coin will eventually get it's own post elsewhere, there's a lot to see, I took dozens of pix...

and finally, after those three items I had not much money left so I dove into the trusty 'junk' bin to see what I could find.. the junk bin never fails me:




1890-S Morgan dollar.. looking straight down on the coin it looks stained, but tilt it into the light....





wow... that is a monster... and it was in the junk bin... i'll probably post that one elsewhere as well, there's stuff to talk about..

my next posting of acquisitions will be from february of this year, and it's gonna be a whopper... stay tuned..

friends, these 'recent' acquisitions came to me on Groundhog's Day this year, February 2nd.

i assumed control over a brick path job that a team of 3+ workers badly fumbled on a landscaping job that I hooked up between a landscaper buddy & one of my 'clients'. the landscaper actually fumbled first, he's the one who hired them. I took over and finished the whole job almost totally by myself in two 3-week bursts, the first burst occurring december 24th, 2021, thru mid-january, 2022, and it was the only time I had any 'help'. the 'help' I got was minimal. I have pictures. ultimately, the owners were ecstatic that I stepped in & stepped up, and I was rewarded handsomely. plus I raked-in a big batch of money. I couldn't let all that money go entirely to bills & rent. I had to divert at least a little of that haul into the hobby. so by 2nd-3rd week of january I did some online shopping for some new additions & upgrades for my LWC folder & 7070 album.

for starters, I nabbed several BU wheaties for the LWC folder, all upgrades from the old brown circulated coins. pictured here are just three:

i upgraded my '64 Kennedy half to a BU coin with a 'rust-ring' of toning mostly just around the obverse rim, there's only a wee bit on the reverse..




i upgraded the 7070's War Nickel to a BU '45-S:




i upgraded the LMC, Jefferson nickel & clad Roosevelt dime to BU coins from the SMS. I chose 1967 for those three as 1967 is my birth year.









saving the best coin for last.. this coin was also an 'upgrade' in the 7070:




1837 large cent with a crazy lamination flaw! a few detail pix:





i had a different (normal) 1837 in the 7070, but when I saw the error coin I had to have it.. I popped the error coin into the album & sent the normal avg. circ. 1837 to my great-uncle in miami for his birthday back in late february; his birth year is 1937, so the coin is dated 100 years prior to his birth.. he was blown away by the surprise bday gift & the coin itself..

(edited-in a half hour later) I nearly forgot... in addition to all the upgrades & new things for the LWC folder & 7070 album I also cashed-out my found monies, not sure which cycle this was, but I had found & saved enough street money to convert into a 1g gold bar:






so that was my Groundhog's Day score. my next coin score would be 5 months later, July 1st... my next post, coming soon...

CarrsCoins, that's interesting to know, I'm going to have to look into that..

friends, back on July 1 of this year I acquired two silver dollars, a Peace dollar & a Morgan dollar. I needed the Peace dollar for my 7070.. I nabbed the Morgan just because it was there..

friends, the coin bug bit me pretty hard over the summer. I had a raging case of coinitis, July was pretty bad. the coins I acquired on July 1 didn't quite satiate the bug, and I ended up acquiring more stuff by the 12th. another tsunami of coins for the 7070 washed ashore...

some of the coins (the old circulated coins) are new additions, some (the shiny, newer-looking coins) are upgrades..







that 1883 'no cents' nickel has a nice die crack thru the date & it also shows around the outer edges of the obverse, thru some of the stars.. this one will get posted in another thread eventually cos there are things to talk about..




i upgraded the susan b. from a "BU" to a proof




i upgraded my old Ike for a '73-S proof after a little reading about Ikes..




i didn't have a Barber half, so I got an avg. circ. coin until I can figure out the next upgrade..




i got a '67 kennedy to upgrade the nasty one I had.. 1967 being my birth year..




i grabbed the oldest Roosevelt dime proof that I could get at the time, a '59..




this buffalo will get upgraded, and i'll probably get a different date




i didn't have a Two Cent so this one will do for now..

again, saving the best for last.. I cashed-out all of my found & saved street money accumulated from roughly Valentine's Day to July 4th, it was enough to nab two 1g gold bars:





the next acquisitions came about nine days later... the coin bug bites hardest when weather is the hottest, and I tell you it was a long, hot summer this year..

Two new additions this week. First is an 1877-CC Seated Liberty half dollar for my CC-mint type set. I thought it looked good for the grade, and CAC felt so, as well.


Next is an 1883 No Cents Liberty nickel for my proof type set.
