It's a 'special' issue believed to commemorate 35 years of the $1 coin. It also probably has a Privymark of an "A', 'U' OR 'S' on the rev along with a MM of 35 between 2 of the Roos. Some coins were deliberately put into circulation earlier this month, and so far it seems, most have been found in Qld.
Not known how many were released or if any were released in other locations.
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

Good luck on the hunt. I doubt I will find one out my way. We cannot even circulate our own dollar coins.

For those that can't wait to find the three coins, and don't mind spending around $40+ for the them, then ebay is your friend ... but then where's the fun in that!

ebay is probably the most reliable route - mintages of approximately one million will make it hard (I've found maybe 10 to 15 coloured $2 coins in total in change over the last six years and they've all had mintages above one million from memory).

Hey, How about this scenario.... The mint has released 3 million of these 2019 dated $1 coins with the current Queens head. What if the queen passes away this year ? Sureley any future 2019 coins wont have her effigy. So maybe these 2019 $1 coins just may become very desirable Thoughts !

They won't be the only ones - the Royal Australian Mint starts producing coins dated for the following year as early as June sometimes (though I haven't kept track of when they started this year).

In addition most of the 2019 Australian gold and silver bullion coins have already been released with QEII on the obverse. Most of them have a new effigy by Jody Clark, it looks like the circulation coins will be continuing with the Ian Rank-Broadley design.

Even if the queen is replaced they (mint) usally has a new head backed up, or they just stop making the coins simple.

Canada issued sets of post-dated 25 cent coins for the Vancouver Winter Olympics. The sets were issued a few years before the event. It did not seem to be a big deal.
