The seller just accepted my offer on this. It was labeled mis struck Lincoln. I think he thought it was a struck through capped die. Looks good to me, the pics might be a lil blurry.

Nice! It kind of looks like a split planchet to me, but could be a brockage. Need clearer photos to tell, though.

I see a pretty clear echo of a distorted memorial, so I would be surprised if it wasn't a capped die.

Looks like a late stage capped die.

Either way, it's a very nice error coin! Congratulations on the purchase!

I don't have it in hand yet. I'll let you know the weight when I do. Here's a similar coin that is slabbed for anyone who doesn't know.

If it were a split planchet error, the weight would be less than normal. The reverse would also be weaker because of the lack of metal.

@coop the reverse would only have weakness if it were a pre-strike split planchet..this looks like a post-strike split.
For this coin to be strruck through a cap the edge on the affected side would be dish like and sloping upwards but this coin has it in the opposite direction almost.

Coop, the slabbed coin is not the coin that the OP bought, it's one that he's comparing it to.

goid call dollar man I think you're right. I knew it wasn't a normal struck through a capped die. I will post the weight and better close ups when I get it in hand

It's either a split-after-strike cent or a normal-weight cent that was struck through a split planchet. We'll know more when we get a weight. It's definitely not a brockage. What you're seeing is an incuse ghost image of the Memorial that bled through from the reverse die.

Just got it. It's a split planchet, it weighs 1.7 grams. It does have a very thin rim on the would be obverse, is that normal?

Awesome purchase and congratulations! The very thin rim is normal. It is probably caused by the error itself.
