Maybe a die a die chip, finding a second one identical would confirm. I'm currently thinking its just the result of displaced material or circulation abrasion.

Another thing that catches my eye is the popular die abrasion seen this year also known on the year prior. Both obverse and reverse have some mid devices polished down to nothing. Thanks, Doug.

Note the damage on that area. It looks like a clip on the ear that peeled away part of the area area and not the slice is laying on the coin.
