Was most fortunate last week to find this 1929 $10 FRBN star note from the Minneapolis district. The total print run from this district was only 588K, including just 24K stars. I would grade this EF-40 or so. It has only one vertical fold and a partial horizontal one, but also shows two paper clip pinches along the top edge. Paper is very crisp. Only 20 stars are known in total from the Minneapolis district, with this being one of the top two or three. It is also the 2nd lowest serial number found. Edited by Coinfrog 11/27/2018 3:50 pm

Nice pickup, from a tough district for 1929 stars. Are you going to send to a TPG?

From such a short lived series, all printed over a long weekend, it is amazing that any of these survived for us to enjoy almost 90 years after they first appeared. $10 was a weeks salary for a lot of people ... IF they were lucky enough to have a job!

FRBN saw limited circulation in 1933 but much of the remaining stock was issued during WWII in order to lessen the load on the BEP.
Peter Huntoon and others have been trying to determine what banks and serial number ranges were 1933 issues and what were 1942-43 issues. So far that information remains elusive.

Thanks everyone. There are some fantastic rarities among the small FRBN stars from all denominations. Yes, I'll send it to PMG eventually. Highest graded is a 45, I believe. Makes you chuckle when you see the BNR list it at $4.7K in gem 65.
