Hello again. I think this might be struck on a thick stock, but then again it might Be a well struck rim. Let me know your opinions please. Happy hunting!

3.1 grams is its perfect weight for a normal cent.

The rim may be flattened. The planchet is normal weight.

By current images I'm thinking a well struck rim. If the edge was altered and push inward, could affect the thickness or height of the rim.

Can't say this applied for all years, but the US Mints current specification on cent thickness is 1.52 mm. My observation this is not always the case on business strikes. Seems high production volume equals the need to cut corners, meaning machines speed or applied pressure adjustments to maximize production, which reflects often on the edge and the rims appearance.

Also take in account was the planchet square to start and if the upset process normal. Thanks, Doug.

I've noticed the 1972's are all struck real deep as are the newer dimes

Take a look at the 1973 cent rims. They are real high.
