i realized that I never really told the story of my finding the benjamins.
i didn't find them while I was out on my nightly route. I found them as I was leaving publix after having shopped, just in front of 10pm. the time-slot for my nightly route is 12:30-2:30am, roughly. with a full back pack & bike basket I was leaving the parking lot, but- as I typically do- I walked my bike down one row of parking spaces looking for errant coins, the same row of parking spaces that I picked that War Nickel from. I didn't see anything, so I began looking at the red curb corner because it was full of debris, with our winds that night from the north. despite all the swirling debris, leaves, receipts, plastic bags, etc., I spotted the first benjamin immediately, which instantly put my heart into my throat because where there's one there could be more. so I paused for pix before I nabbed it and then continued looking around the area where all the debris was collecting. I found the second one amid debris clustered at the base of a column, between a garbage receptacle & cigarette butt receptacle. I put my foot on it for a picture because the wind was trying to move that debris once I pushed those receptacles out of the way. I searched the whole area, even looking into the trash can. all I found was two.. it was enough.
i was supposed to have shopped the night before. I was at home preparing for a trip to the store when I got a text from a buddy who I hadn't seen in a while saying, 'come over and get sauced with me', which I did. I thought about it a few minutes first and determined I could postpone shopping until the next night. so I went over to his place three blocks away and got sauced with him, put off shopping until the next night.
if I would have gone shopping when I was planning to I wouldn't have gone the next night, and I would have maybe missed those benjamins. funny how that worked out.

I am pedaling to publix tonight for an early look (after I shop).

The older nickels I found last week were a 1957-D and a 1964-D, must have forgotten to photograph those too. The '64 was road-rashed heavily on one side as well, so nothing really to write home about in the slightest.
