I can see 19(8?)3 as the date from these pics. It could be a dropped letter

I see 983, after the one. What I doubt is real is the GD mintmark. It appears to me to be a Lincoln Cent, You can see the lapel very faintly. Dan

Maybe those are mint marks at the bottom there? They look to be the right shape and size for '80s pennies....  -CH27

It is difficult to tell from the one pic if the additional D is incuse or not. If it were a dropped letter, it should be. With the filled date and the strong MM, it makes sense to me. This might be a really cool and unusual find.  Please post more pics of the entire coin.

Certainly could be a grease filled date and a dropped mintmark which fell out upside over. Very neat find.
