May first thought was 12-D from your picture. It might help if you post additional pics, closer on the date and different light angles.

Well, it's not because you haven't tried. Man, I'm lost now. I look at it, I see a 12 then I look at it again, I see a 17. Sorry. Others with chime-in here. Stby..........

Sure looks like there is a horizontal bottom to that fourth digit in the date--my guess is 1912.

Thanks everyone. This is a hard date to see.

The squareness of the upper left leads me to think it's a 7. The way the second "1" appears to lean to the right, particularly in the first two OP images, is also something I see on PCGS images for 1917, both D and S, which I don't see for 1912. Therefore I'm "leaning" towards 1917, mintmark who knows. It's about the right position for either.

How about if you take a good look at Lincoln bust shoulder on the obverse - and tell us if there is the VDB initials visible.
That would indeed settle the discussion on 1912 dated coin

If your not going to use this coin as a hole filler then what difference does it make what's the date and mint mark ? I put these Lincolns in my wheat cull box .

my gut was 1912 S. I actually think it's 1917 D, Final Answer.
