Leroy Van Allen is currently the only person that can designate a new VAM if discovered. All VAM (Van Allen Mallis) means is a certain die pairing ala Sheldon and Newcomb for Large Cents or Overton for Bust Half dollars. Most VAMs don't bring any premium, while others would blow most Morgan collector's minds with the kinds of premiums they bring. Best to read to see what errors there are and most have examples/pics to explain.
