Machine Doubling can be in one or more directions. Die Deterioration is always towards the closest rim direction. The first clue on this one was the extreme die flow on the fields. Note on the top of the first 'T' on Trust? See the angled lines on that area? Those are called striation lines. These happen when metal rubs across metal. Another clue for Machine Doubling. They don't always show, but the cause and affect are always the same. Metal sliding on metal. Other examples:

As mentioned not a doubled die, but when you see these lines, it is a strong clue for Machine Doubling from metal sliding over the planchet after it became a coin.

Striation lines are on the device edges. Flow lines are on the fields of the coin. The fields are the outside edge of the die. So as the dies wear, you can see the slight amount to die wear, where as the fields have the job of moving the metal around the most. Thus developing die flow lines as each coin is shaped the same, the start flat and soon will have long lines. Some times they polish them out and this reduces the fields and affect the shallow devices:

Die flow lines that developed after the die was polished. (note the reduction of the size of the devices)
