susan b. anthony dollars!
anyone that would want a set of those ugly things has to be a very devoted fan.
i could picture a bunch of collectors sitting at a table wearing paper bags over their heads and putting together sets of SBA's.

Oh, that is so wrong!

As a truly devoted Eisenhower dollar fan, I have to give the obligitory plug for the Ike. We are constantly harassed by the Morgan dollar collectors.

But I believe the collectors of the SBA and other baby dollars have it worse than us.

Have to admit I am a bit of an Ike fan myself. Only problem now is I have cleaned out my local coin dealer. Not much in the way of American coins at the dealers I frequent.

May have to organise a trade or buy in the next few months. Anything you want to sell or any Aussie coins you are interested in jbuck?

I'd have to say the Statehood Quarter Series. Everyone from little Timmy to Grandma Betty is trying to get one from every state.

The Prez dollars would be a close second to that.

Based on informal polls

Both US domestic, & Foreign collectors

and non collectors

Thousands of people have jars and cans and piles of the lowly

US One Cent Coin

People don't even know why they collect them they just have them stuffed into some container somewhere in their home or automobile.

That is devotion. I know of no other coin that is collected as much nor ignored in value (there are some out there worth a bit)

so until everyone turns in all that copper.

I vote for the US one cent coin - Not to be mistaken for a Penny

Lincoln cents...hands down. That's why such a common coin as the 1909-SVDB is so valuable.

Nope.

I have a few Aussie coins, but I am not a dedicated collector. I have been contemplating my "future" once I finish off the last few sets I am building.

lol, leave it to an obsolete-denomination collector to call less than a half-million mintage "common"

Now the 1909P-VDB... that's gone completely off the rails lately.

I've got to go with the Bust Half Dollar collectors, for starting this whole VAM craze

No offense but those 2-cent pieces are pretty goofy, but there's a small yet die-hard fanbase for 'em. -PP

I'll have you know that it's Grandma "Virginia" and little "Reed" in my family's case !....

AND, as I bring my girlfriend into coin collecting....she recently told me that one of her favorites was the Susan B. Anthony !....So, a couple of weeks ago, I purchased her a "proof" and some uncirulated ones. AND this last weekend I purchased TWO S.B.A sets ! One 3 coin set for 1979 and one 3 coin set for 1980 !
And I don't feel ashamed or embarrased at all !...
(bought another silver Ike too this weekend Jbuck ! )

I look at it this way........I run an "adoption house" for all unwanted or abused coins that are kicked out of society !......they're ALL welcome in my household !

Hmmmm...rethinking this question...as far as "devotion" goes, I'd say 3CN collectors are few and far between so they're a pretty devoted group! It's easy to bash that small, boring, obsolete denomination.
Rest in Peace

I would go with the Kennedy half. These devoted collectors are the only reason that the coins are still being produced! I thought they would have stopped production at the 40 year mark, being made NIFC coinage in 2002. Yet the series continues, when the series hits 50 in 2014, do you think the mint will redesign a coin that hasn't been issued for circulation in 12 years! Probably not. I guess they will keep producing them for "collectors only" at least until that 50 year milestone!

Actually, leave it to any rarity scale I've ever seen to call it common. You want a roll of them? Give me a couple weeks and a bunch of bucks.

As already noted the penny. Some have said the State Quarters but I highly doubt there are vertually many millions of collectors of them as there surely is with the PENNY. There are numerous songs written using that coin such as Pennies from Heaven and just how many coins are in other songs. A few but not many. Just about every kid collects those things. By devoted fans you must realize that although there are many people that start a collection of one type or another, just think of how many people started with PENNIES and after maybe 60 years still collect them. That is a devoted fan.
